Make your own Methane Biodigester

Make your own Methane Biodigester  

 Material Required:

1.       40, 50 gallon Plastic drum

2.       Plastic tube

3.       Shutoff valves

4.       Sealer

5.       4” dia PVC Pipe

 you will need one forty and one fifty gallon drum

a tightly seal able fifty gallon container plastic tubing shutoff valves and sealer 4 or 5 inch diameter PVC  pipe

Assembling of biodigester

Cut 2 holes into the seal-able drums lid one is the size of the PVC pipe and one the size of the plastic tubing place them at opposite ends of the lid cut out the bottom of the PVC pipe so the only have two remains

Sealed the container and place the PVC pipe into at hole. This’ll be where you insert  the digester feed stock.

 Remove anything around rim of small fifty-gallon drum

This tank holds the gas

Capturing it between its roof in water

Cut two holes into the bottom of the forty gallon drums same as rubber tube

cut the tubing into 2 section 1 will connect the sealed container with the other drum.

And the 1 will let gas out.

Insert the shorter piece of tube in to the upside-down drum

The other end of this tube connect to the sealed container

Attach the valve to gas release hose so the gas will escape. Then seal all connection

Each tube or pipe needs to be air tight.

Wait for these connections to dry. Fill the unused fifty-gallon drum water about two-thirds

Place the gas container upside down into the water and now digester has complete

Feedstock goes into the white pipe which produces methane gas (biogas) trapped in blue container

With energy bills on the rise and so much food rotting in landfills, you can make a home-made biodigester to turn waste in to useful gas called biogas, It is a mixture of different gases like , methane, carbon dioxide, nitrogen sulphide water vapors.This video showing the concepts of anaerobic digestion students and teacher can learn for science fair project or class demonstration.

For making of biodigester/methane digester you have to arrange large glass jar or bottle with narrow opining showing in photo, plastic pipe, funnel, some joint(elbow/T) bottle cork and plastic balloon.

Welcome to Pakistan science club, I am Sana mehmood and today I will explain how to make a bio gas plant. Hassan and Habab from Pakistan science club are also with us.
The things which we need to make bio gas plant are:
20l water bottle
Pipe
PVC pipes
PVC caps
Gas valve, funnel and tyre tube
First of all cut PVC pipe equal to the bottle
We mark according to the length and then we will cut it
We have cut the PVC pipe according to the bottle's size.
Now insert the pipe into the bottle
To insert we mark here so that we can cut it easily
We have to make a hole here
As you can see that we have made the hole with soldering iron to fix the pipe
The pipe goes very straight into the bottle but we have to be careful that the pipe should be two inch above from the surface.
Now we fix outer pipe in it,
It should be completely opposite
We have entered both pipes into it
The best and easiest way to make it air tight is throw some soil in it and then apply super glue on it
Inlet and outlet pipe is connected to mini biogas Plant
Now we will connect a gas pipe in it which will connect with tube after connecting with t and that is the point where all gas gets collect
The other valve of it will be connected to our burner
Now we ask them how it will work and what materials are used.
We can produce bio gas with dung and many other waste materials
Firstly we store dung and then we seal it and leave it for some days
The bacteria will produce in one or two weeks and these bacteria will produce gas
Whatever gas produce will get store in tight tube
The construction of bio gas has completed
Now we will paint it with black color
The reason behind painting it black is that as you can see that the bottle is transparent and light will penetrate easily so Algae will grow
If the Algae grow then oxygen will be produced and when oxygen produced the bacteria will respire aerobically
That’s why we will paint black color and it also maintain digester temperature -----------------
As you can see that finally our bio gas digester---- has completed
Now we will put mixture of dung and water in it
Take equal amounts of water and dung
If the dung is ten kg water should be ten liter
Our project is finally completed now we will leave it for a week and then we will check the results.
